Are Antidepressants Safe During Pregnancy?

Up to 14 percent of pregnant women in the US take antidepressants like Prozac, Celexa and Zoloft despite an increasing number of studies that link these medications to birth defects, complications after birth and even developmental delays and autism.

Now,  Food and Drug Administration has issued strong warnings that paroxetine (Paxil) may cause birth defects and warns doctors not to prescribe Paxil and pregnant women not to take it.
