States Haven’t Embraced Later School Start Times For Teens

A new study shows that even though the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that middle schools and high schools start class at 8:30 a.m. or later in the morning, only 18 percent of US schools are complying with this recommendation.

“Among the possible public health interventions for increasing sufficient sleep among adolescents, delaying school start times has the potential for the greatest population impact,” the study notes. Read more.
